Q: What if I am coming for the first time?

Will I find the service confusing and difficult to follow?

Absolutely not.  The entire service is printed in a bulletin, along with instructions on when to sit or stand, that are easy to follow.  The bulletin contains all you will need to fully particiapte in the service.

Where is Our Saviour located?

116 East Church Street in Elmhurst – one block east of York Road, two blocks south of the Metra tracks, two blocks north of St. Charles Road.

Where do I park?

The church lot entrance is from Kenilworth (one way southbound on Sundays, so access it from Church Street) and there is a church entrance right off the parking lot.

What should I wear?

Some come in shorts, others in suits, most somewhere in between. Come as you are.

What if I don’t know what to do during worship?

Relax. There’s a printed bulletin that will guide you every step of the way.

Can I come to communion?

Absolutely. Without exception, everyone is welcome to receive the bread and the wine. Gluten free wafers are available for those with a wheat allergy.

What about my kids?

Children of all ages are welcome to remain with their parents and to participate in the liturgy. We also have a church school program – it begins at 9:45 for children aged 3-12, and we will soon have a nursery for younger children. We do not currently have a youth group.

What if I work up an appetite?

We hope you’ll stay for refreshments after the 10 a.m. liturgy.

Q: Why Choose the Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church is an historic church, with roots going back to the time of the Apostles, that strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome.  Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship-orientated church that promotes throughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ.  We are Protestant, yet Catholic; we possess the treasure of the scriptures and the Book of Common Prayer;  and we live by scripture, tradition, and reason.

Q: What other congregations use the facility?

We’re delighted to offer space to two Indian congregations. The Church of South India, led by Father Lawrence Johnson, worships Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at Our Saviour. More recently, another CSI congregation – CSI Redeemer has begun meeting on Sunday afternoons at 5 p.m. When there is a fifth Sunday in a month, our Anglo congregation and the two Indian congregations often combine for joint worship and fellowship.
