Service and Outreach are central to our life as Christians. In keeping with this Our Saviour has an active Outreach Committee that meets once a quarter to discuss the ministries we participate in throughout the year.
We support several organizations throughout the year with our treasure, time and talent. These organizations include:
Elmhurst Walk-in Assistance Network (EWAN) – EWAN is a partnership of local faith and service organizations to provide coordinated assistance to people in the community.
Grace Café – Grace Café is a consortium of Elmhurst Churches that take turns providing monthly or twice monthly meals for people who are hungry or in need of relief from a tight budget.
CROP Walk – Every October we raise money and walk in the Elmhurst Crop Walk which raises money to end hunger both locally and abroad.
United Thank Offering (UTO) – UTO is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the monies to support mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion.
Change for Change – COS is in partnership with the Diocese of South Sudan. We regularly raise money so that a parish in Renk may continue its mission.
Yorkfield Food Pantry and PADS – We regularly collect food and other supplies for these organizations that help distribute basic necessities to people in need.
We have also participated in:
Saint Baldrick’s – An Organization that raises research money for Childhood Cancer. Saint Baldrick’s holds head shaving fund raisers throughout the year. COS held an event in February of 2017 where several people had their heads shaved for this good cause.
Refugee One – A Chicago based organization that assists Refugees resettle in the area. COS has collected winter coats and other necessities to help new refugees withstand the cold Chicago winters.
Funds for outreach ministries come from a designated trust and from fundraisers such as organ and choral recitals, spaghetti dinners. In addition to cash contributions, man things have been donated by people at Our Saviour through specific drives we do during the year like our reverse Advent Calendar, and summer food drive.
